Nutcracker Beginner Ballet Series

Come learn the basics of ballet with professional ballerina Marie Ritschard! Continue to build on previous experience or join as a first-time student!
During this Beginner Ballet series, Marie will give lessons in the basic positions and steps of ballet, teach choreography from the Nutcracker, and guide students in making snowflake wands. At the final session, dancers will perform several Nutcracker excerpts for friends and family using their handmade wand!
Students will be offered discounted tickets to attend Central Illinois Ballet’s Nutcracker December 6-8! Marie will provide more details on how to receive your discounted tickets.

Meet Professional Ballerina and Teacher, Marie Ritschard:
Since the age of four, Marie has studied dance with a strong focus on classical ballet technique, pointe, and modern dance. She graduated from Butler University with a BA in Dance Pedagogy, danced for two seasons with the Louisville Ballet Studio Company, and just completed her third season as a Principal Artist with Central Illinois Ballet. During her time as a professional dancer, some of her favorite roles have included Balanchine’s Serenade, Sugar Plum in the Nutcracker, Ariella in The Little Mermaid, Princess Aurora in Sleeping Beauty, and Cosette in Les Misérables. She has a passion for teaching and performance and is excited to bring ballet classes to the Five Points community!
