Generational Impact Circle

Five Points Washington was created through collaborative efforts of five individual organizations, including the Washington District Library, Washington Community High School, Washington Park District, City of Washington, and Washington Area Community Center. Each organization has a community-focused mission, and together they form an unprecedented community consortium. By uniting their offerings under the same roof, they created a destination unlike any other – providing dozens of one-of-a-kind opportunities for individuals while working together to make Central Illinois a better place to live.

Five Points Washington is a one-of-a-kind gathering place where we can grow as individuals and a greater community. It’s where a future musician performs on a theater stage for the first time. Where a senior citizen builds relationships, stays active, and connects. Where a promising actor performs their first scene in front of 1,000 people. Where a youngster learns to put their face in the water — and where years later sets records on the high school swim team. Where we can celebrate life’s milestones — from a first birthday to a wedding. Five Points is where we gather to do business and share ideas that will strengthen our communities and future generations. Where we experience arts and culture and are educated and entertained. Where we can develop a healthy lifestyle through fitness and staying active or regain strength through training programs. And it’s where community gathers in times of celebration and in times of need. Five Points is about you as an individual, and it’s about us as a community. Born from collaboration, Five Points was created for each of us — and for all of us.

Meet Devyn, Our Fund Development Director

Devyn

My name is Devyn Farney, and I am the new Director of Fund Development at Five Points Washington. First, I want to thank you for your generous support of Five Points Washington over the years. I have consistently been impressed by the impactful work carried out by Five Points in the community, particularly through Five Points Cares and its collaborations with key entities within the Washington Community.

I grew up visiting my dad’s tire shop off the square every Saturday when I was a young girl. I loved walking the square, stopping for sweets, and seeing familiar faces. Fast forward many years, and now, my 3-year-old daughter is taking semi-private swimming lessons with two of her best friends at the Five Points Aquatic Center. It has been an incredible experience for her and has helped her overcome her fear of water. I enjoy watching her love for swimming grow and the connection she is building with her instructor. It feels like a full-circle moment to now work in the community I loved visiting as a little girl and at a place I can bring my own daughter to experience that same community.

As the Director of Fund Development, my primary responsibility involves securing grants for our outreach programs, building our annual fund, and organizing fundraising events to support necessary building upgrades. I appreciate the warm welcome I've received at Five Points Washington. If you come across me, don't hesitate to say hello. I look forward to getting to know each of you.
