Kids Summer Ballet Series

6-week ballet series taking place on Tuesdays; June 11th- July 23rd with no class July 2nd.

Come learn the basics of ballet with professional ballerina Marie Ritschard! Continue to build on previous experience or join as a first-time student!

During this Summer Ballet series, Marie will give lessons in the basic positions and steps of ballet as well as teach a dance that students will perform at the end of the last class for friends and family (age groups 3-4, 5-6, 7-9, 10-12, NO teen performance).

Ballet class is an excellent, full-body workout that will improve balance, flexibility, strength, coordination, musicality, and focus. We will start with the basic positions of ballet, move through exercises targeted at strength and alignment, work through active stretches, and progress into classwork that builds into more full, musical movements. Class is open to absolute beginners, second-time participants, and those with outside previous experience. Students are encouraged to wear either socks or ballet slippers and comfortable clothing that allows full-body movement.

5–6-year-old 11:30-12:15
7–9-year-old 12:30-1:15
10–12-year-old 1:15-2
13–17-year-old 2:30-3:30

Since the age of four, Marie has studied dance with a strong focus on classical ballet technique, pointe, and modern dance. She graduated from Butler University with a BA in Dance Pedagogy, danced for two seasons with the Louisville Ballet Studio Company, and just completed her third season as a Principal Artist with Central Illinois Ballet. During her time as a professional dancer, some of her favorite roles have included Balanchine’s Serenade, Sugar Plum in the Nutcracker, Ariella in The Little Mermaid, Princess Aurora in Sleeping Beauty, and Cosette in Les Misérables. She has a passion for teaching and performance and is excited to bring ballet classes to the Five Points community!
