Meet the Artist:
“My education includes courses at Savannah College of Art and Design and Illinois State University where I graduated with a Fine Arts degree, as well as an Art Education degree. I taught art for several years, painted murals and worked as a lifestyle photographer. I had only ever worked with acrylic paint, but made the switch in 2020 to watercolor and it felt like home. Watercolor is light, fluid, challenging and forces you to let go.
I grew up in Peoria, IL and went to school in the Dunlap School District. I owe my art career to my high school art teacher Mrs. Hale, and the support of family and friends. My work usually leans to realism, but remains loose and gestural. I do enjoy the occasional abstract, but my heart is in architecture.
I have a sweet family of four along with our loveable Goldendoodle Chewy. We relocated to Washington from Waco, Texas shortly after the tornado. Watching the way our town came together drew us here. We love our community in Washington and the support I receive here is everything to me. We are so glad we chose to make our home here. I look forward to every commission and love looking back to see my growth along the way. Being a part of my client’s journey through celebration and remembrance continues to be the best part of my work. My absolute favorite thing is surprising someone with a custom watercolor of their home, family or business. I am fortunate to be able to share something that brings me so much joy every day.”
