Come learn the basics of ballet with professional ballerina Marie Ritschard! Continue to build on previous experience or join as a first-time student!
During this Beginner Ballet series, Marie will give lessons in the basic positions and steps of ballet, teach choreography from the Sleeping Beauty ballet and guide students in making their own Lilac Fairy wand. At the final session, dancers will perform a Lilac Fairy excerpt from Sleeping Beauty for friends and family using their handmade wands!
Since the age of four, Marie has studied dance with a strong focus on classical ballet technique, pointe, and modern dance. She graduated from Butler University with a BA in Dance Pedagogy, danced for two seasons with the Louisville Ballet Studio Company, and just completed her third season as a soloist with Central Illinois Ballet. During her time as a professional dancer, some of her favorite roles have included Balanchine’s Serenade, Dew Drop in the Nutcracker, Ariella in The Little Mermaid, and Cosette in Les Misérables. She has a passion for teaching and performance and is excited to bring ballet classes to the Five Points community!
