Meet Crystal

Hello! My name is Crystal Casper and I am a Registered and Licensed Dietitian. I obtained my Bachelor’s of Science Degree in Food, Nutrition and Dietetics from Illinois State University. From there, I completed a 1-year dietetic internship program at OSF Saint Francis Medical Center in Peoria, IL. After completing that and passing the national exam to become a registered and licensed dietitian, I worked as a Clinical Dietitian at OSF for 6 years gaining a lot of great experience as a dietitian working with patients with varying health conditions. I am currently working as a virtual Health Coach for a company called Vida Health, assisting members who are wanting to lose weight. When I heard Five Points was hiring a dietitian, I jumped at the opportunity to apply for the position as I have had a life-long passion for fitness, nutrition and health. What a better place to share my passion with others who are wanting to learn more about nutrition and how it can impact overall health!

I believe that health is one of the most valuable assets a person can have, and a huge contributor to good health is proper nutrition and that is the main reason I am so passionate about it. Eating healthy will help to provide a good quality of life and longevity. As a dietitian, I have the knowledge and experience to help individuals improve their health. It is important for me when working with you to learn about your health history, favorite foods, eating and exercise habits so together we can set goals and create a wellness plan that is individualized and tailored to you to help you make small, gradual lifestyle changes that will be sustainable for you and that will lead to positive and healthy behavior change. I don’t believe in fad diets, they simply do not work for the long-term. I do believe a sustainable approach to nutrition is much more likely to produce the long-term results a person desires. I also believe that a balance of healthy eating and regular physical activity are the core of a healthy lifestyle.

A little bit about me: I have always been a highly active person, playing sports in high school and developing a passion for running which also started in high school. I have been an avid runner most of my life and have completed multiple 5ks, 10k’s, half-marathons and marathons. This fall I will be running my 6th marathon with hopes to someday soon qualify to run the Boston Marathon. Beyond running, I also enjoy strength training and other forms of cardio and am frequently in the gym doing that. I also love riding my bike. Other hobbies include traveling with my husband, cooking and creating new healthy recipes, spending time with friends and family, listening to music and shopping.
