SUMMARY:Tailgate Party - Bandana Ceremony/Passing the Pride
DESCRIPTION:Five Points Washington is partnering with the Panther Football Alumni Association’s 12th Man to host a few Tailgate Parties this fall. We look forward to getting the community together to have a little fun before the game. Our Tailgate Parties will take place in the Five Points Washington South Parking Lot. \n  \nOctober 17 | 5-7:15 p.m. \nvs Canton \nBandana Ceremony/Passing the Pride \n*$3 donation at the donor will be donated to Alumni Football \n  \nThe Black Bandana Tradition \nSince 1981\, the black bandana has been a symbol of pride\, leadership and the enduring spirit of the Panthers. The tradition was started by Dale Sparks\, who first wore the bandana during a standout season and chose to pass it on—not as a trophy\, but as a legacy. \nEach year since\, the bandana has been handed down from one player to the next. The choice is never random. The current holder selects someone who they believe truly represents what it means to be a Panther—someone who shows grit\, heart\, integrity and a deep commitment to the team and its values. \nThis isn’t about stats. It’s about character. \n  \n  \nFood and drinks will be available for purchase from the Lions Club. Face painting will be available for the kids and our final raffle drawing will take place ($500 each)! Music will be provided by TJ the DJ: Straight Outta Sunnyland. \nAs a reminder\, no outside food or drinks are allowed. \n  \nTailgate Parties in 2025: \nOctober 17 (vs Canton) \nPost Season TBD \n  \nThank you to our sponsors for these events: 365 Loans\, Lindsey Plumbing and Cooper Roofing & General Contracting. \n  \nQuestions? SUMMARY:Heartland Festival Orchestra Presents: From Fire to Joy\, Beethoven's Journey
DESCRIPTION:https://fivepointswashington.org/wp-content/uploads/2025/10/BeethovenCommercial.mp4\n  \nJoin the Heartland Festival Orchestra on a journey From Fire to Joy – Beethoven’s 9th! From Beethoven’s radiant Fourth Piano Concerto performed by pianist Michael Stephen Brown\, to the triumphant Ninth Symphony\, this concert celebrates hope\, unity\, and the joy of music. \n  \nFrom Fire to Joy invites audiences on a transformative journey through Beethoven’s music—from mythic origins to universal brotherhood. The evening begins with the spirited Overture to The Creatures of Prometheus\, celebrating the symbolic gift of fire—creativity\, knowledge\, and defiance. The Piano Concerto No. 4 follows with its quiet\, introspective voice: a musical meditation on struggle and resilience\, where dialogue replaces conflict. The program culminates in Beethoven’s monumental Symphony No. 9\, where the composer—deaf and isolated—reaches outward to proclaim a vision of unity and joy. This concert is not only a tribute to Beethoven’s genius but a reflection on the enduring human capacity for hope\, transformation\, and connection. \n  \nFeaturing Award-winning Guest Artist Michael Stephen Brown\, Piano Soloist\,\nand Vocal Soloists:\nMiracle Amah\, Soprano\nLauren Bolla\, Mezzo Soprano\nThomas Studebaker\, Tenor\nPeter Volpe\, Bass \n  \nFor more information about the performance\, visit Heartland Festival Orchestra’s website. \n  \nSunday\, October 26 \n4-6 p.m. \n  \nTickets available HERE. \n  \nQuestions? SUMMARY:Co-Ed Young Adult Leagues – November Pickleball
DESCRIPTION:Back again for year two\, we are hoping to see many returning faces as well as some new ones for our Co-Ed Young Adult Leagues! Throughout the winter\, we will offer four recreational leagues\, on Friday evenings\, to get you and your friends up and active. These leagues are open to anyone 18-years and older. These co-ed leagues are a great way to meet some new friends and stay active during the winter. \n  \nPickleball League \nNovember 7-21 \nFridays from 5:30-7:30 p.m. (*NEW TIME*) \nThree weeks of play \n  \nRegistration \nRegister as single players \n*You and your partner can still play together\, each person just has to register separately this year. Don’t have a partner? No worries\, we had plenty of single players register last year and we will rotate through partners\, so everyone has a chance to play. \n$15 / per person\, Member \n$25 / per person\, Non-Member \n*10 Teams Maximum for the League* \nYou can register at the Five Points front desk\, online or over the phone. \n  \nMake sure to follow our Facebook event for more information about the league and to meet your new friends in the league: Facebook Page. \n  \n2024 Pickleball Leagues \n \n  \nYoung Adult Leagues this Winter \nPickleball | November 7-21 (three weeks) \nVolleyball | December 5-19 (three weeks) \nPickleball | January 9-30 (four weeks) \nVolleyball | February 6-27 (four weeks) \n  \n  \n\n\nAbout our Pickleball League \nEach Friday night\, you and your team will come in and see how many games of Pickleball you can play. First game will be a first come\, first serve (six teams max.) all teams after the first six will wait on the sidelines until the first game finishes and then they will play the winners. You will play a single game against each team. When playing your games\, if you win\, you get to stay on the court. If you lose\, you will head to the sidelines and wait for your next turn. This is a recreational league so wins and loses will not be kept track of. We are here to have fun! Obviously\, the more you win\, the more games you get to play. \n  \n\nWe will honor traditional scoring for Pickleball games. See below for more information about Pickleball rules. \n\n  \nHow to Play Pickleball \nPickleball is played on a badminton-sized court: 20’ x 44.’ The ball is served diagonally (starting with the right-hand service-square)\, and points can only be scored by the side that serves. \nPlayers on each side must let the ball bounce once before volleys are allowed\, and there is a seven-foot no-volley zone on each side of the net\, to prevent “spiking.” The server continues to serve\, alternating service courts\, until he or she faults. The first side scoring eleven points and leading by at least two points wins.   \n  \nCourt and Gear \nPickleball is traditionally played special Pickleball paddles\, made of wood or high-tech aerospace materials. The ball used is similar to a wiffle ball\, but slightly smaller. The lower net and wiffle ball allow the game to be accessible to people of all ages and abilities\, while still allowing more competitive players to test their mettle. \n  \nThe Serve \nServes are to be made diagonally\, starting with the right-hand service-square and alternating each serve. The serve must clear the seven-foot non-volley-zone in front of the net and land in the diagonal service court. \n  \nServes should always be done underhand with the paddle below the waist\, and the server must keep one foot behind the back line when serving. The ball should be hit into the air without being bounced. The serving side will continue to serve until the there is a fault on the service\, at which point the service will be given to the opposing side. (However\, if the ball touches the net but still lands within the appropriate service court\, the serve may be taken over.) \n  \n\nThe serving team may decide who will serve first with a coin toss. The winner of the coin toss will have the option to choose whether or not to serve first. \n\n  \nVolleys \nTo volley means to hit a ball in the air without first letting it bounce. In Pickleball\, this can only be done when the player’s feet are behind the non-volley zone line (seven feet behind the net). \n  \nDouble-Bounce Rule \nEach team must play their first shot off of the bounce. That is\, the receiving team must let the serve bounce and the serving team must let the return of the serve bounce before playing it. Once these two bounces have occurred\, the ball can either be volleyed or played off the bounce. \n  \nFault \nA fault is committed when the ball: \n\nIs hit out of bounds\nDoes not clear the net\nIs volleyed from the non-volley zone\nIs volleyed before a bounce has occurred on each side\nDetermining Serving Team\n\n\n\n  \nQuestions?
