The resilience\, self-awareness and discipline it takes to succeed on the court can teach us invaluable lessons about the same in everyday life. My mission is to bridge the gap between athletic performance and personal development\, helping athletes grow in confidence\, intention and emotional intelligence. \nTrueImpact was born out of my desire to provide more than just technical training. I want every athlete I work with to leave feeling\, not only stronger in their skills\, but more connected to their potential as individuals. By partnering with Five Points\, I’m excited to bring this unique approach to athletes across all levels; offering clinics\, camps and private/small group training sessions. \nFor me\, coaching is deeply personal. It’s about seeing that spark in an athlete when they realize what they’re capable of—on the court and in life. SUMMARY:Rove & Ramble: Around Town - July
DESCRIPTION:Rove & Ramble is hitting the road — literally! \n  \nIn past summers\, you’ve joined the Washington Specialty Shops on the Square every Thursday to enjoy live music\, food trucks\, shopping and summer vibes… but this year\, we’re taking the fun to a whole new level. \n  \nThis summer\, we’re roving around Washington to bring the party to three amazing locations — each with its own unique flavor and atmosphere:\n– The Square\n– Countryside Banquet Facility\n– Five Points Washington \n  \nExpect the same great mix of music\, food\, and community fun! \n  \nJuly 17 | 5-7:30 p.m. \n– The Station \n– Hick’ry Stick \n– The Pizza Guys \n– Swanee’s Pretzels \n– Gramma Nana’s Kitchen \n– The Bakery Bar \n– Music from Lee Hall \n– Line Dancing provided by Jennifer Rawls from RedBear Line Dance: 7-8 p.m.\, wristbands to participate will be available for $5 per person \n– Nonprofit Night\, over 10 nonprofits will join us this evening to share information about their organizations \n  \nLearn more about Jennifer Rawls and RedBear Line Dance: \n \n  \nBeing Texas born & bred\, my love of two-stepping fed into a love of line dance. While I have been country dancing for many years\, I only took up instructing formally over a year ago. It became apparent if I didn’t\, there might not be any more dancers around. My mission is to get anyone interested in line dancing\, up and moving to country music! \n  \nWhile I introduce the latest line dances from around the country\, I emphasize learning a handful of core dances that can be done to many songs. I don’t want my dancers to have to memorize dozens of dances or wait for a specific song before they can dance. Thus\, even if we’re learning an ‘older’ dance\, we’re practicing to the latest country music. \n  \nI teach each line dance step-by-step\, wall-by-wall\, and when we’re all pretty confident\, put it to music. During practice\, we’ll dance to two songs at different tempos with steps called over the music. In the end\, if we’re facing the same way\, that’s great; if we’re having fun\, that’s a real win! \n  \nI am currently instructing a weekly improver level class for the Peoria Park District. I also teach a progressive build beginner class for PPD when enrollment requirements are met. \n  \nThrough my business\, RedBear Line Dance\, I have instructed weekly/bi weekly at Daddios (Bloomington)\, OZ’Z (Creve Coeur)\, and Hanna City Sportsman’s Club [HCSC]. Long term bookings in progress for 2025 include Haven on the Farm and HCSC. \n  \n  \nCheck out the full schedule and line-up here https://washingtonilcoc.com/event/rove-ramble/ and get ready to Rove & Ramble – Around Town! \n  \nQuestions? Big stage\, small stage\, near or far—they’re ready to light it up! \nAmy (Lead Vocals) – The ultimate frontwoman\, Amy’s voice is as powerful as it is versatile—soaring high notes\, soulful tones\, and everything in between. Known for her unmatched energy and charisma\, she can turn any crowd into die-hard fans. He’s not just a drummer; he’s a showman\, known for his wicked sense of humor and unexpected talents\, like making balloon animals mid-set. If you’re looking for energy\, look no further—Claude is bringing it! \nTodd (Bass) – The groove master himself\, Todd lays down basslines so deep you’ll feel them in your soul. The band’s resident movie buff\, he’s as passionate about cult classics as he is about keeping the rhythm tight. (Ask him about Army of Darkness—if you dare!) \nTim (Guitar) – Tim’s guitar skills are nothing short of legendary. Whether he’s ripping a face-melting solo or dropping playful Where’s Waldo tips between songs\, he’s the band’s secret weapon. With charisma and talent to spare\, Tim keeps every show engaging\, exciting\, and unforgettable.” \n  \nTo learn more about the band\, head to their website. \n  \nAugust Initiative – Washington Chamber of Commerce and the Washington Bicentennial \n \nWe are teaming up with the Washington Chamber to help celebrate our city’s 200th anniversary! SUMMARY:Five Points Speaker Series - Two-Day Pen and Ink Class with Pixie Jacquin
DESCRIPTION:Local Artist Pixie Jacquin is joining us for another Speaker Series! This time\, she needs two-days to make sure your artwork is complete. Pixie will take you through an “Ink and Pen” class. You might remember this style of art\, Pixie’s own Ink and Pen work was displayed on the Community Gallery Wall earlier this year. During your art lesson\, Pixie will also discuss some art history to make sure you have a little background knowledge about Ink and Pen artwork. \n\n\n  \nAs always\, our Speaker Series events are free and open to the public\, so bring your friends with! \n  \nMonday\, August 25 & Wednesday\, August 27 from 1-3 p.m. \nFive Points Washington\, Senior Room \n  \nMeet the Artist\, Pixie Jacquin: \n“I am an artist whose work is a blend of memory and imagination\, captured in ink\, acrylic and watercolor. My art reflects the facets of myself—the moments\, the feelings and the thoughts I hold about the world around me. It is a snapshot of time\, a personal reflection on people\, animals\, objects and the spaces we inhabit. I approach my work with seriousness and depth\, constantly thinking and reflecting on the world. But I am also irreverent; I like to poke fun\, to challenge conventions and to question what we take for granted. My work is my protest\, a reminder that life is too short to paint anything other than what truly pleases me.” \n  \n \n  \nSpecial thanks to our sponsors for this event\, Oak Street Health and The Insurance Phoenix. If you would like to sponsor a Speaker Series event\, reach out to Missy Prather and let her know how you would like to help bring fun and engaging content to the Senior Room this year. \n  \nOur Speaker Series is from 1-3 p.m. on the fourth Monday of the month. Refreshments will be available and you do NOT have to be a Five Points member to come to our Speaker Series. \n  \nJoin our Five Points Senior Room page to hear more about our Speaker Series and other events happening in the Senior Room: https://www.facebook.com/groups/245412824880066 \n  \n  \nQuestions? Contact Wedding Coordinator\, Missy Prather: melissap@fivepointswashington.org.
