Based in Central Illinois\, this dynamic group has been electrifying audiences across the Midwest with their signature blend of country\, rock\, pop\, and funk. Whether it’s a small-town bar or a massive festival stage\, they deliver unforgettable performances that keep fans coming back for more. \nWith Amy’s powerhouse vocals\, Tim’s fiery guitar licks\, Claude’s explosive drumming\, and Todd’s rock-solid bass grooves\, Sista And The Misters is a musical force that brings the party wherever they go. Playing an impressive 50 to 75 shows a year\, their reputation for fun\, engaging shows is cemented in venues like Winterset Cidery in Iowa\, Psycho Silo near Langley\, IL\, and the Illinois State Fair\, as well as iconic events like the Redneck Fishing Tournament and more. Big stage\, small stage\, near or far—they’re ready to light it up! \nAmy (Lead Vocals) – The ultimate frontwoman\, Amy’s voice is as powerful as it is versatile—soaring high notes\, soulful tones\, and everything in between. Known for her unmatched energy and charisma\, she can turn any crowd into die-hard fans. When she’s not commanding the stage\, she’s fueled by her love of music\, coffee\, and the occasional Twisted Tea. \nClaude (Drums) – Claude is the heartbeat of Sista And The Misters\, delivering high-octane beats that get the crowd moving. He’s not just a drummer; he’s a showman\, known for his wicked sense of humor and unexpected talents\, like making balloon animals mid-set. If you’re looking for energy\, look no further—Claude is bringing it! \nTodd (Bass) – The groove master himself\, Todd lays down basslines so deep you’ll feel them in your soul. The band’s resident movie buff\, he’s as passionate about cult classics as he is about keeping the rhythm tight. (Ask him about Army of Darkness—if you dare!) \nTim (Guitar) – Tim’s guitar skills are nothing short of legendary. Whether he’s ripping a face-melting solo or dropping playful Where’s Waldo tips between songs\, he’s the band’s secret weapon. With charisma and talent to spare\, Tim keeps every show engaging\, exciting\, and unforgettable.” \n  \nTo learn more about the band\, head to their website. \n  \nAugust Initiative – Washington Chamber of Commerce and the Washington Bicentennial \n \nWe are teaming up with the Washington Chamber to help celebrate our city’s 200th anniversary! SUMMARY:Five Points Speaker Series - Two-Day Pen and Ink Class with Pixie Jacquin
DESCRIPTION:Local Artist Pixie Jacquin is joining us for another Speaker Series! This time\, she needs two-days to make sure your artwork is complete. Pixie will take you through an “Ink and Pen” class. You might remember this style of art\, Pixie’s own Ink and Pen work was displayed on the Community Gallery Wall earlier this year. During your art lesson\, Pixie will also discuss some art history to make sure you have a little background knowledge about Ink and Pen artwork. \n\n\n  \nAs always\, our Speaker Series events are free and open to the public\, so bring your friends with! \n  \nMonday\, August 25 & Wednesday\, August 27 from 1-3 p.m. \nFive Points Washington\, Senior Room \n  \nMeet the Artist\, Pixie Jacquin: \n“I am an artist whose work is a blend of memory and imagination\, captured in ink\, acrylic and watercolor. My art reflects the facets of myself—the moments\, the feelings and the thoughts I hold about the world around me. It is a snapshot of time\, a personal reflection on people\, animals\, objects and the spaces we inhabit. I approach my work with seriousness and depth\, constantly thinking and reflecting on the world. But I am also irreverent; I like to poke fun\, to challenge conventions and to question what we take for granted. My work is my protest\, a reminder that life is too short to paint anything other than what truly pleases me.” \n  \n \n  \nSpecial thanks to our sponsors for this event\, Oak Street Health and The Insurance Phoenix. If you would like to sponsor a Speaker Series event\, reach out to Missy Prather and let her know how you would like to help bring fun and engaging content to the Senior Room this year. \n  \nOur Speaker Series is from 1-3 p.m. on the fourth Monday of the month. Refreshments will be available and you do NOT have to be a Five Points member to come to our Speaker Series. \n  \nJoin our Five Points Senior Room page to hear more about our Speaker Series and other events happening in the Senior Room: https://www.facebook.com/groups/245412824880066 \n  \n  \nQuestions? Contact Wedding Coordinator\, Missy Prather: melissap@fivepointswashington.org.

One additional strength workout given every week to achieve on your off days. \n  \nPersonal Trainer Valerie Greene combines twelve years of teaching group exercise classes with her personal training knowledge to provide a fun\, energetic\, high intensity interval group training class. Enjoy the one-on-one attention\, motivation and expertise of a trainer while enjoying the camaraderie of fellow members and friends at a lower rate than personal training. In only 30-minutes you will move through multiple circuits including cardio and strength stations. The exercise circuits in these sessions will change continuously to avoid adaptation\, challenge your body and achieve fitness goals. Every week you will also receive an extra strength workout to do on your off days. \n  \nBenefits of High Intensity Interval Training (HIIT): \n\nBurn more calories in less time\nExperience the “afterburn” effect and burn calories for 12-48 hours\nBoost your metabolism (more than steady state cardio) and keep your metabolic rate high\, even after the workout\nBoost fat loss/reduce body fat (especially visceral fat)\nBuild lean muscle mass\nImprove athletic performance and cardiovascular health\nTime efficiency and a convenient option for busy schedules\nIncrease oxygen consumption/improve your VO2 max\nImprove insulin sensitivity (important for regulating blood sugar levels)\nBoost your mood and trigger the release of endorphins\nAdaptable to all fitness levels\n**Also numerous studies in recent years have shown how well high exercise intensity works for menopausal women. See the following excerpt from the book Next Level by Dr Stacy T. Sims:\n\n“For menopausal women\, high intensity sprint interval training sessions can provide the metabolic stimulus to trigger the performance-boosting body composition changes that our hormones helped us achieve in our premenopausal years. The key here is the intensity. In high-intensity interval training\, alternating short bursts of hard exercise are followed by relatively short recovery periods… When you reach your menopausal years\, it’s very important to incorporate the shortest\, sharpest form of HITT which include super-short\, 10 to 30 second sprint-style efforts (SIT). They are extremely beneficial for both peri- and postmenopausal women. One of the biggest benefits of SIT training is improvement in body composition. SIT training increases lean muscle mass and reduces fat mass in a relatively short period of time. In a 2019 study published in Medicine & Science in Sports & Exercise\, researchers had a group of postmenopausal women\, ages 47 to 59\, perform 20-minute bouts of SIT-alternating eight seconds of sprinting on a stationary bike at about 85 percent of their maximum heart rate with 12 seconds of easy pedaling— three times a week for eight weeks. By study’s end\, the women had lost fat\, regained lean muscle mass\, and improved their aerobic fitness by 12 percent after what amounted to only eight hours of actual exercise over eight weeks’ time.” \n  \nSeptember 2-24 \nTuesdays & Thursdays \n8:30-9 a.m. \n  \nLocation: \nUpstairs Theater Hallway \n  \nHIIT Club Includes: \n\nTwo in-person classes a week\nFour weeks of training\nFour additional written workouts\nAttention\, support and motivation from a Certified Personal Trainer\n\n  \nPricing: \n$120 Members \n$150 Non-Members \n*Minimum four\, maximum eight participants \nRegister online\, over the phone or at the Five Points Front Desk \n  \nMeet Personal Trainer\, Valerie Greene: \n \n“I am very excited to be a part of the incredible Personal Training staff at Five Points! SUMMARY:Community Gallery Wall Exhibit Reception: Amy Werner
DESCRIPTION:Art Exhibit by Amy Werner \nThe Amy Werner Art Studio \n  \nAmy’s exhibit will be displayed on the Five Points Washington Community Gallery Wall from August 26-October 5. \n  \nMake sure to stop by and meet the artist at the exhibit reception on September 7\, 2025 from 2-3:30 p.m. \n  \nMeet the Artist: \n“My education includes courses at Savannah College of Art and Design and Illinois State University where I graduated with a Fine Arts degree\, as well as an Art Education degree. I taught art for several years\, painted murals and worked as a lifestyle photographer. I had only ever worked with acrylic paint\, but made the switch in 2020 to watercolor and it felt like home. Watercolor is light\, fluid\, challenging and forces you to let go. \nI grew up in Peoria\, IL and went to school in the Dunlap School District. I owe my art career to my high school art teacher Mrs. Hale\, and the support of family and friends. My work usually leans to realism\, but remains loose and gestural. I do enjoy the occasional abstract\, but my heart is in architecture. \nI have a sweet family of four along with our loveable Goldendoodle Chewy. We relocated to Washington from Waco\, Texas shortly after the tornado. Watching the way our town came together drew us here. We love our community in Washington and the support I receive here is everything to me. We are so glad we chose to make our home here. I look forward to every commission and love looking back to see my growth along the way. Being a part of my client’s journey through celebration and remembrance continues to be the best part of my work. My absolute favorite thing is surprising someone with a custom watercolor of their home\, family or business. I am fortunate to be able to share something that brings me so much joy every day.” \n  \nTo learn more about Amy and her art\, make sure to follow her on Instagram\, Etsy and Facebook. \n  \nAre you an artist or know someone who is?
