Since then\, Grant has been strumming her way through a thirty-plus year adventure as a singer-songwriter\, author\, television host\, and speaker. \nEarly on\, Grant’s iconic voice became instantly recognizable in both the Christian and pop worlds. Over the years\, she has sold more than 30 million albums world-wide\, including three multi-platinum\, six platinum\, and four gold. DESCRIPTION:Looking to earn your Lifeguard Certification? \n  \nAt Five Points Washington\, we value pool safety above all else. No one wants their child to be hurt in the water. That’s why we teach you how to enforce proper safety measures and prevent others from drowning through our American Red Cross Lifeguard Certification Courses. \n  \nThe class will be limited to 10 participants plus an instructor. Class takes place on October 5th and 6th from 9AM-6PM both days. Prerequisites are on September 27th from 6-7 PM or by appt. \n  \nClasses will most likely end before the posted times each day\, but per the Red Cross we must post the maximum suggested run times. The instructor will keep the participants up to date on times. \n  \nPrerequisites: \n\nParticipants must be at least 15 years of age\nSuccessfully complete a 150-yard continuous swim using front crawl\, breaststroke\, or a combination of both.\nSuccessfully tread water for 2 minutes using legs only.\ncomplete another 50 yard swim swim using front crawl\, breaststroke\, or a combination of both.\nSuccessfully swim 20 yards\, retrieve a 10 lb object from a depth of 7-10 ft using a surface dive\, then return to starting point swimming with both hands on the object and keeping face at or near the surface of the water.\n\nFailure to complete the prerequisites will result in removal from the course. Participants may practice prerequisites at Five Points at a pre-arranged time. \nNo shows or late cancellations to any class date will void any refund as other participants could have participated in your slot. \n  \nClass Format/Requirements:\nOur initial certification course is a blended learning course. Participants will meet on the first day of class to perform the prerequisite swim tests\, receive their materials for the course\, and begin their introduction into the course. They will have the time between that date and the next scheduled class date to complete the online learning portion of the course. The last 2 days of class are in-person training and will conclude the course. \nParticipants must be in attendance for the entire length of the in-person course and complete the entire online learning portion prior to concluding the course. SUMMARY:Five Points Speaker Series - Pictorial Journey of San Francisco's 1906 Earthquake with Rebecca Dailey
DESCRIPTION:Karolinn Schmidt O’Conner was in San Francisco at the time of the great quake of 1906. Her photographs of the devastation were discovered in the mid-1980’s in the bottom of an old trunk in the attic of her sister’s home in Peoria. \n\n\n\n  \n\nHer great niece\, Rebecca Dailey\, inherited these original photographs from her father. She used her photographic skills to restore them and did extensive research to assemble a historical journey from before and after the quake. She has presented her research and the collection at Illinois State University\, Butler University and a variety of community organizations in the area. \n\n  \nMeet Rebecca Dailey: \nRebecca Dailey received her Photographic Craftsman Degree in 1992 through the Professional Photographers of America. Through the years\, she has received various awards for print competition and several credits for speaking programs. \nShe has been a photo artist since 1965. Her career started with Burchett Studio in Peoria\, Illinois. DESCRIPTION:Our 6 week\, 5 on 5 basketball league is starting back up on September 15. Teams must be signed up before Friday\, September 13. The league takes place on Sundays from 1- 5PM. \n  \nThis league is open to ages 16+ and there is a maximum of 10 players per team. We have room for 16 teams maximum. These are recreational\, full court games with 1 patched referee. You will have 6 weeks of guaranteed play and then a tournament to follow. \n  \nTeam captains must sign their teams up and pay the team’s entry. Continue to build on previous experience or join as a first-time student! \nDuring this Beginner Ballet series\, Marie will give lessons in the basic positions and steps of ballet\, teach choreography\, and guide students in making their own mermaid crown. At the final session\, dancers will perform two dances for friends and family wearing their handmade crown! \n  \nMeet Professional Ballerina Marie Ritschard: \nSince the age of four\, Marie has studied dance with a strong focus on classical ballet technique\, pointe\, and modern dance. She graduated from Butler University with a BA in Dance Pedagogy\, danced for two seasons with the Louisville Ballet Studio Company\, and just completed her third season as a soloist with Central Illinois Ballet. During her time as a professional dancer\, some of her favorite roles have included Balanchine’s Serenade\, Dew Drop in the Nutcracker\, Ariella in The Little Mermaid\, and Cosette in Les Misérables. DESCRIPTION:Come and learn how to play Pickleball with Joyce Hughes. Pickleball is a lively racket game for all ages and abilities. Pickleball was created with one thing in mind\, FUN! It was designed to be easy to learn and play whether you’re five\, eighty-five or somewhere in between. We offer both a beginner and intermediate class. Each four week class will teach proper grip\, how to keep score\, rules of the game\, stroke\, serve and etiquette.  \nAdult Intermediate Class requires knowledge of the game\, keeping score and different strokes. This class will work on strategy and court position. Drills and match play will also be introduced. \n  \n*Wear your workout clothes and court shoes.
